It is unclear to me what led SFR to enter politics and run for mayor of Eufaula. An observer can never know for sure why any citizen seeks public office. If asked, the answer is immediately tainted by the political motivations of the one replying. That person may indeed have interest in serving the public, but this and other cliché responses certainly do not tell the whole story. We will get the job interview answer, or job-performance review answer for incumbents, since we are, collectively, that politician’s employer or potential employer. As employees may say we love our jobs and care deeply for the company, but we all know we do our jobs primarily for the money. While a politician may not care much about the salary they earn for their public service, multiple motives apply, be they the desire for power, influence or fame. Political pundits, both professional and amateur, have postulated that SFR entered and advanced in politics because she liked and sought the attention.
